The combination of loose ring and full cheek gives the best of both worlds, presignal and contact of a loose ring with the lateral turning aid of a full cheek and the shorter shanks of a fulmer give some stability. Featuring a central copper roller, this bit is designed to distribute pressure more evenly across the tongue and bars compared with many single-jointed bits, encouraging soft and consistent contact as the double joint minimises the nutcracker effect a single joint can cause to the palate. The roller also encourages warmth, salivation and bit acceptance as well as fidget for younger horses. The Baby Fulmer snaffle is a good choice for: - dislike of single joints - tried many bits and no success in conventional designs - horses that dislike pressure concentrating in the palate - needing a bit of turning help but a full cheek is too “stiff” and a loose ring too pinchy.
