Featuring a double-jointed lozenge mouthpiece, this bit is designed to distribute pressure more evenly across the tongue and bars compared with many single-jointed bits, encouraging soft and consistent contact as the double joint minimises the nutcracker effect a single joint can cause to the palate. The blue steel (sweet iron) is designed to rust upon moisture and encourage salivation and bit acceptance. Over time it turns a “oxidised” brown colour, but it is designed to do this and horses actually quite the taste as it’s perceived as warm.
